Our Sashiko Sampler Kit contains everything you need for your sashiko project.
Sashiko napkins have been one of the most common forms of Japanese craft for generations. Sashiko involves stitching elaborate patterns on daily-use cloths, elevating the everyday to something beautiful and special. But the simple running stitch patterns are not purely decorative; they also make the cloth more durable. Traditionally in Japan, Sashiko cloths were first used for cooking, then for wiping a dining table, and finally for cleaning the entire house.
Daruma's Sashiko Samplers come in two colors - modern white and classic navy. The geometric pattern printed on durable kitchen cloth fabric (sarashi) can be washed off after finishing. In other words, don’t wash the piece until you finish stitching!
Also included are four sizes of needles in varying in lengths and thicknesses, as well as embroidery floss of the most common and popular thickness of thread for Sashiko. Navy samplers include one skein of white thread; white samplers include one skein of navy thread.
