Blue Moon Fiber Arts is a local, woman-owned business with hand-painted colorways that will rock your world. Their sock yarns bases (Socks That Rock Lightweight, Mediumweight, and Heavyweight) are legendary, and their sweater yarns come in giant hanks to keep costs down and end-weaving-in time low.
A note about small batch hand dyed yarns: The color you see on your computer screen may be slightly different from the actual color of the yarn, because all monitors display colors differently. In addition, the skein on the screen could vary slightly from the skein you'll be shipped. BMFA yarn is dyed in very small batches and they do not use dye lot numbers. So, when ordering, make sure that you purchase enough yarn for your entire project. There are many variables in the hand-paint process and there are some dyes that dapple or pop tiny spots of color. These qualities are considered design elements that add to the one-of-a-kind aspect of your yarn. BMFA works very hard to ensure that their yarns do not bleed excessively when washed. However, if you have a garment that is bleeding, hand washing it with vinegar water should help. Similarly, dye haze occurs when a dye comes off a bit onto your hands and needles. This is most common with very saturated colors -- especially the Ravens. Our experience is that they wash fine and do not fade. If your experience is different, please contact us.
